In response to the City of Covington’s 2025 call for artists, our team proposed a kinetic sculpture & fountain. Eight out of 40 entries were selected to receive an honorarium and further develop proposals in three months with a budget and maintenance plan for public presentation. Our prospective subs helped us stay under budget ($65K) and in time for dedication in 2026.
All finalists were provided with comments from the judges. We scored well on our deep connections to Covington. During the design development process, we aesthetically streamlined the forms. In the final presentation we demonstrated that the sculpture AND fountain could be fabricated within the budget, which was increased during the process.
Being a finalist was an honor and working with my son Christo, a recent UC Mechanical Engineering/Robotics graduate, was priceless!
